Delikatesy Vininova is a brand specializing in the sale of high-quality premium food products inspired by Mediterranean cuisine. Its offering includes carefully selected Italian delicacies such as olive oils, pasta, preserves, sweets, and organic products. Thanks to partnerships with renowned suppliers and a strong focus on quality, Vininova is building a reputation as an expert in the premium culinary category.
Before our collaboration, the client operated an online store under the name Delikatesy Peretti on the Shoper platform. With a rebranding initiative and the desire to grow online sales, the company approached us with a request to fully migrate the store to the Shopify platform. The goal was not only to refresh the brand identity and change the name to Delikatesy Vininova but also to create a modern, functional store that better meets the needs of end customers and supports the brand's further development.
The project came with several key challenges that required fast execution and close coordination:
Shopify's recent popularity and position as a leader in the low-code/no-code e-commerce platform space provide strong support from key e-commerce service providers. Integration with these systems was mostly plug-and-play using ready-made extensions, saving significant development time and reducing costs.
Shopify allows bulk import of data using pre-prepared files. This enabled a smooth traffic transition from the old platform to the new one while preserving SEO performance.
Although Shopify does not offer default themes that fully meet EU legal requirements, it provides a wide range of plugins via the Shopify App Store. After evaluating the costs, we recommended a plugin priced at $5/month, which allowed us to meet legal requirements without major development work, saving both time and money.
Similar to SEO, customer data migration was smooth. We used a simple pre-prepared script to map exported Shoper data to Shopify. The entire account transfer process took just a few minutes on migration day.
Shopify offers a rich library of themes. Using one of the most popular themes (which supports all essential e-commerce functions), we quickly built an interface that was both visually appealing and user-friendly. Additional customization was done using the platform’s built-in Page Builder and minimal developer effort.
This is worth highlighting. Launching an e-commerce platform in just 10 days would have been nearly impossible before the low-code era. Shopify's ready-made tools and no need for infrastructure setup dramatically reduced the implementation time and cost. However, such rapid delivery depends heavily on the team’s experience—choosing the right tools and avoiding dead-ends requires platform knowledge.
The outcome was a fully functional e-commerce platform for individual customers delivered within 10 days of project start. The various challenges encountered were easily addressed thanks to Shopify’s robust ecosystem. Its vast community and service support ensured seamless integration of all required systems. If we were to advise on a similar project again, we would undoubtedly recommend Shopify as the technology of choice.
In today’s dynamic SaaS e-commerce landscape, it’s essential to consider platforms like Shopify early in the analysis phase. While these platforms offer flexibility, they don’t provide the same level of customization as tailored solutions like Magento 2. As with any implementation, the choice should be made based on the client’s needs.
If speed and cost-efficiency are priorities, Shopify is unmatched. However, extensive customizations outside its core capabilities may be problematic. Having an experienced advisor can be invaluable, as deep knowledge of the Shopify ecosystem is key to a successful implementation.
The Shopify implementation for Delikatesy Vininova proved to be a perfect match. Despite a very tight timeline, the solution was delivered on time, and the store enjoyed customer interest from day one.
