OroMomentum: how AI shortens B2B platform projects
OroCommerce has launched OroMomentum, an AI program for launching, customizing and upgrading B2B platforms. We explain what Oro claims across its Launch, Customize and Upgrade pillars, what it changes for B2B clients, and how we have used AI in Macopedia projects for years.

On 1 September 2026 OroCommerce launched OroMomentum, an AI program built to change how B2B platforms are launched, extended and upgraded. It is not another storefront feature. It targets the delivery process itself: how to bring down the cost and the time of a large B2B project.
For a company choosing a platform for the next few years, that matters more than it sounds. The cost of a B2B rollout is rarely decided by the licence. It is decided by the number of working days: analysis, configuration, integration and every change made afterwards.
Why B2B projects are slow and expensive
A B2B platform mirrors processes a consumer store never meets. Individual price lists for hundreds of accounts. Credit limits and roles inside the buyer’s own organization. Orders placed by part number and EAN. Integration with the ERP that feeds stock and prices. Each of those is a separate decision and a separate piece of code.
The result is predictable: the rollout takes months, and every customization added after go-live leaves behind technical debt that makes the next change harder and the next upgrade more expensive. That is the part of the bill OroMomentum sets out to cut.
What OroMomentum is
Oro describes OroMomentum as a continuous, AI-based efficiency program addressing the three most common points of friction in B2B projects. The figures below are the vendor’s claims, not our measurement:
- Launch – the path from requirements to go-live. Oro claims implementation time cut by up to half.
- Customize – the path from idea to working feature. Oro says customizations can be added up to twice as fast, with test coverage included from the start.
- Upgrade – moving custom applications onto new platform versions. Oro claims upgrades up to twice as fast as the classic, manual route.
Taken together, Oro talks about roughly half the time on custom development, lower technical debt and a faster time to value.
What it means for a B2B client
For a company weighing a new platform, the slogan does not matter. Three outcomes do.
Shorter time to value. The sooner the platform runs, the sooner it takes over the orders that live in email and spreadsheets today.
Lower total cost of ownership. If a customization no longer leaves the debt it used to, later changes cost less and an upgrade stops being a project in its own right.
Less risk. An upgrade where AI generates and verifies the code, and checks it against the new version, means fewer surprises in production.
One condition does not go away. AI works on the data it has. If the product catalogue is inconsistent and the ERP integration is patchy, no efficiency program makes up for it. The order is the same as always: clean data and integrations first, then a faster process.
The Macopedia perspective
OroMomentum moves in the same direction we have moved in for years. We are an OroCommerce Silver Solution Partner, and we have used AI in real project work – in analysis, development and maintenance – where it genuinely raises quality and saves time, rather than where it merely sounds good.
That is the advantage we want to give clients. Not just “we will implement the platform”, but we will deliver it more cleanly, with better code and a more predictable cost of ownership. A program like OroMomentum is a tool for that, not the goal: what counts is what the client is left with once the project ends.
In short
OroMomentum is one of the more interesting moves in the B2B platform market in 2026, because it shows AI starting to affect the whole software delivery process, not just storefront features. For a client that means a shot at shorter time to value, lower cost of ownership and less risk during upgrades. Oro’s claims are worth testing on a real project, which is exactly what we do.
