What makes up the PSA?
The training program for Akeneo PIM is called PSA (PIM System Administration). It is conducted by Akeneo or by us depending on the purchased license. This program consists of five sessions that introduce your company to the world of Akeneo PIM:
- Catalog and product structure - the explanation of concepts and roles such as channels, locations, attributes, groups attributes, families, categories, trees of categories, and completeness.
- Product modeling - the juxtaposition of a simple product with product models and product variants in PIM.
- Asset management - the use of assets such as images, documentation in PIM, rules for linking products to assets, and transformations.
- System functionalities - introducing users to system capabilities, including quick export, bulk actions, reference entities, imports, data exports, projects, and rules engine.
- User permissions and roles - permissions at the level of group attributes, categories, regional permissions, and discussing the roles of users in the system.
The program is designed to last for two to three weeks. It's recommended that employees who are involved in designing and implementing the PIM system participate in the training. However, this program is not intended for end-users of the system because this type of training is organized only in the final phase of project implementation.
How are various meetings going?
After completing the initial training program, a demo of the Akeneo PIM system is provided, which showcases the features discussed during the training program. The next step is determining who should participate in the subsequent workshop sessions. The selection process should take into account business and technical knowledge of the participants.
The initial workshop meeting is a crucial step in implementing Akeneo PIM successfully. The meeting will focus on:
- examining the client's requirements;
- the purpose of Akeneo PIM implementation;
- the volume of products;
- the number of system users;
- the languages supported by the interface.
The first workshop meeting
Your team will work with us to analyze your organization's needs and create a plan for the implementation of the PIM system. We will find answers to questions such as: what does the current system infrastructure look like, where is product information currently stored, and in what format? Additionally, we will agree on the channels and languages to be used and determine the current product life cycle.
The second workshop meeting
It focuses on analyzing the client's current product description templates and attribute usage. During this step, we will examine the attributes used by the client, including the options available for attributes with a pick list. We will outline the product families and determine the identifier for each product.
The third workshop meeting
We’re going to discuss product models, variants, and the relationship between products. Above all, we will determine the extent to which you will use the system's functionality.
The fourth workshop meeting
In this session, we will be discussing the resources that are currently being utilized by you, where your photos and documentation are stored, and how assets will be transferred to the PIM system.
We'll be working together to design resource families and define your attributes, all while exploring the transformation possibilities of these assets. This will be a collaborative effort to create a system that truly works for everyone involved.
We will also discuss the incredible power of reference entities and how they can enhance our resource management system. This will give us a better understanding of the scope of your usage and how we can help you manage your resources more effectively.
The fifth workshop meeting
We'll be diving into the exciting world of user permissions and roles within the system. Our team with your company will also determine the ultimate product lifecycle cycle, ensuring that our system remains efficient and effective from start to finish. This means considering everything from design to launch, and ensuring that we have a process in place to manage every step of the way.
The sixth workshop meeting
We'll take a deep dive into the migration of assets, ensuring that no data is left behind. This will be a comprehensive process, where we'll need to consider everything from data security to system compatibility. Our team will work together to come up with a migration plan that's both efficient and effective.
The seventh workshop meeting
As you may already know, the number of meetings will depend on the number of integrations required. For the purposes of this workshop, we'll be discussing two integrations.
We'll be exploring the nuts and bolts of system integration, considering everything from compatibility to functionality. Our team will work closely together to ensure that we create a seamless and efficient system, where all data is integrated flawlessly.
What’s next?
We're open to the possibility of organizing additional meetings before the submission of the final document, in case any issue requires further analysis and additional workshops.
At the end of the workshop sessions, we'll schedule a meeting to summarize the information gathered during the sessions and discuss further steps related to the re-estimation of the PIM Akeneo project implementation. We'll also set a deadline for completing the pre-implementation analysis document.
In conclusion, the PSA program for Akeneo PIM provides a comprehensive training program that will prepare your team for the challenges of implementing PIM system. With proper training, your team can make the most of Akeneo PIM's features and functionalities and ensure a successful implementation.
